Excerpt:
This document focuses mainly on the youth unemployment situation in Germany between 1929-1932.
One of the worst effected countries of the depression was Germany. Germany’s economy had also to suffer on the ”peace of violence” of Versailles with its reparations, its loss of territory, population and resources. Germanys population had to deal with mass unemployment, poverty and hunger. The statistics, which are not always reliable, show a mass unemployment of 5 Mio in the winter 1930-1 and 6 Mio in 1931-2. The unemployed with their dependants made up a fifth of the entire population in Germany.
